Elliot Givner

Elliot has a background in the seafood industry stretching back to the mid 80’s.  His first experience in the fish business was working unloading boats and packing fish as a teenager.  He went on to study Fisheries Technology a quality control program at Holland College.  He worked in QC at a local processing plant until realizing his passion for sales and marketing in the industry.  Elliot bring 20+ years of sales experience and industry know how to the business.  He takes real pride in providing current and accurate information to both customers and suppliers on a daily basis.


Ian Dempsey

Ian, a native of Purcell’s Cove, Nova Scotia grew up around the fisheries.  After completing a degree in marine biology at Dalhousie University, Ian took a job with Bedford Institute of Oceanography working directly with lobster fisherman studying the health of the fishery.  After a few years working at B.I.O. Ian decided to make a transition into sales and developed a partnership with Elliot Givner.  Ian has over 15 years of experience in the fish business and takes great pride in the work that he does.  Ian is heavily involved in the Halifax Chebucto Ringette Association where he coaches his two daughters.


Ian Randall

Ian grew up in Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia and attended St Mary’s University where he achieved a bachelor of commerce.  He worked in accounting for several years following graduation before taking a job alongside Elliot and Ian.  He quickly became an integral part of the Bluenose Seafood sales team establishing new customers.  Ian is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet brings a laid back, detail oriented approach to the business.  He lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia with his wife and two daughters. Oh, and he taught Sidney Crosby how to skate.


Scott Black

Scott was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. He attended Crandall University where he played basketball for three years. In 2014, after graduating, Scott and his wife moved to Halifax and he joined the Bluenose Seafood team in September. He’s happily learning the fish industry and looks forward to growing and developing his skills within Bluenose Seafood. When Scott isn’t working you’d likely find him either coaching basketball, or on the golf course.


Frozen Division


Paul Richer

Paul is originally from Kitchener, Ontario and moved to Halifax to attend Dalhousie University where he studied Kinesiology and played 4 years of varsity volleyball.  After graduation, Paul spent a year coaching volleyball at Dalhousie and in August of 2010 he started working at Bluenose Seafood.  Paul spent his first 6 months with Bluenose learning the ins and outs of the fresh fish industry and then shifted his focus on business development of frozen fish.  Paul now heads up the frozen division of Bluenose Seafood.  Outside of work, Paul coaches youth volleyball in Nova Scotia.


Jared Lohnes

Jared was born and raised in Lunenburg, NS. He attended Acadia University where he achieved a Bachelor of Business Administration. After university he followed his passion and became a golf professional. After years of swinging a club he decided to turn to the fish industry where he can develop his strength in sales. Jared joined the Bluenose Seafood team in May of 2014 and works in the frozen division with Paul. Jared now lives in Halifax with wife and daughter and if he can’t help you with frozen fish then he can definitely help you with your golf swing!
